Improving Accessibility Standards

Accessibility Conformance

Aspen Grove is committed to creating products and services that are accessible to everyone. We believe that good design is inclusive design. By adopting accessibility principles, we strive to remove barriers and create experiences that are usable and enjoyable for as wide an audience as possible. Our approach involves continuous learning, testing, and reviewing WCAG standards in accessibility. As part of those reviews, we have recently adopted the improved WCAG 2.1 AA standards. These newer standards have 17 more forms of success criteria than WCAG standard 2.0 , requiring more rigorous testing and compliance. We have continued to integrate accessibility in all our processes and examples of our commitment include:

  • Becoming a Part of a Community: Aspen Grove is registered in the IAAP (International Association of Accessibility Professionals) for Certified Professionals in Accessibility Core Competencies
  • Training & Learning:  Our team are trained in Accessible design and are CPACC (Certified Professional in Accessibility Core Competencies) Qualified. This qualification requires at least a year of experience with accessibility and successfully taking exams based on the IAAP body of knowledge.
  • Designing for all: Our Design System focuses heavily on Universal Design, providing a library of documentation, tools, and other supporting content focusing on accessibility for the design practice.
  • Updated Documentation & Product Standards: We have created a newly formatted ACR (Accessibility Conformance Report) based on the VPAT (Voluntary Product Accessibility Template) that covers and tests all global standards given by the World Wide Web Consortium (W3C).
  • Increased Testing & Tools: Accessibility Audits are conducted to ensure that we continue to provide compatibility for new user interfaces, utilizing our ACR every time to ensure compliance. Our audits include automated and manual testing with accessibility tools/methods like lighthouse, WAVE, screen readers, high contrast, keyboard navigation, etc.
